Biased Article

http://educationnext.org/do-schools-begin-too-early/#comments

My article talks about whether highschoolers should have a early arrive or a late arrive. It's kind of biased for several reasons. One being on how the article is based off the opinion of one person. The author seems to be well educated, but fails to have hard facts to back up his article. This article is a research paper for his school and that makes it seems like he favors students rather then school boards from where he stands. He wasn't very detailed where he got his information and facts. I read the reviews and may other folks agreed on his theorem, but mention that he doesn't have hard evidence and facts to back him up.

The author seems to be biased to himself since he's still a student. He wrote this research paper for his school to take a stand towards his belief. In his conclusion, he mentions and suggest on how school districts should run their schools. That's how I knew it was more about his opinion rather then a research paper. His intended audiences seems to school leaders, because as a student he tries to prove to them why schools should start later. There is no equal consistence, he doesn't mention the pro's and con's about the situation. He wasn't very detailed on where he got his information and facts. He did have some reliable sources, but failed mention where he found his data. Finding good hard data on increased performance is difficult to find for several reasons such  as watching less TV, eating more healthy, and going to sleep earlier.

current event

http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/28/world/africa/somalia-kismayo-assault/index.html?hpt=wo_c1

Oligarchy is when one group of people has total power over a certain area and no limits on power. There are no elections, and the only way to be removed is by killing the leaders or a revolution. In Africa, there is a group called the Somali that has control over a certain area of Kenya. I was reading on the CNN website about the African forces expanding into the Somali stronghold. This is great news because soon the people will be able to have their lives and country back.

Abortion (My View)

I go to church every week and I was taught that abortion is killing. In my church we only allow a church member to have an abortion if they were rapped. Even then my church strongly suggests keeping the child. I think abortion should be banned, even under any circumstance! According to this article http://www.christianvoicesforlife.org/pdf/Abortion%20Risks%20and%20Consequences.pdf I was able to find some consequences to abortion to strength my point. It has been proven that an abortion can cause abortion related complications in later pregnancies. Among teens 66% of young female teens that have an abortion will have a miscarriage or premature baby in their next pregnancy. The risk of breast cancer can even double sometimes after an abortion. As a society we should find methods to prevent pregnancy to lower the number of abortions. As for the rap situation, the person can always give the child up for adoption. With that said I believe abortions should be banned in every state.

Abortion (The Democratic View, Strengths and Weakness)

A weakness is that the Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports a woman’s right to choose a safe and legal abortion regardless of the ability to pay it or not. But a really good strength is that they also recognize that such health care and education can help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and thereby also reducing the need for abortions. So they may allow it but they are also trying to prevent it from happening it unlike the republicans. They will ensure access and availability to programs for pre- and post-natal health care, parenting skills, pandemic, as well as malaria, tuberculosis, and neglected tropical diseases. This will also help the young girls in the economy become better mothers. I believe this will help young girls make smart choices when it comes to life and parenthood. A Another weakness is that they also plan on providing $50 billion dollars over five years to strengthen existing U.S. programs and expand them to new regions of the world. I think it’s good to invest money in our programs but the fact that they want to expand our programs to other countries might affect the U.S. We could use the extra money in other programs and help our countries economy.

Education (My point of View)

In my perspective, education is the most important thing. There is nothing else better you can offer a child. It helps teach children a better life style and helps keep them off the street. I just started a internship at a elementary and it helped me realized how much help some kids need. According to this graph http://www.all4ed.org/files/GraduationRates_FactSheet.pdf 69% percent of seniors are graduating on time. Someone beetween the ages of 16 to 24 in a family with a low income is 7 times more likely to drop out then another student with a family that has a average income. I agree with what the demarcates promote because education should be the number one priority of this country.  We should get a new generation of teachers with better pay and help schools out with after school programs. That way will be able to keep kids off the street and raise our countries future.

Education ( Democratic View)

The Democratic Party strongly believes the most valuable skill is knowledge. That the quality of public school and the opportunity to success in college must be a birthright to every child not just the privilege to few. The Democratic party sets high standards for our children but also hold themselves accountable for their education. They plan to make quality, affordable early childhood care and education for everybody. They will make sure every student has a high quality teacher, to improve student's skills in learning. That starts with recruiting a new generation of teachers and principals by making this pledge-if you commit your life to teaching, America will commit to paying for your college education. While giving teachers a good paying salivary. They hope to reduce the amount of high school drop outs by supporting and investing in after school programs, summer school, alternative education programs, and youth jobs. The Democratic Party will also support full funding of the individuals with learning disabilities. They also believe that universities, community colleges, and other institutions of higher learning must foster among their graduates and help them get the skills they need to succeed. The Democratic Party has no disadvantages their plan is to improve children's/young adult's education. I see a flawless plan that can help improve our economy.

Social Security/Retirement Funds (My Point of View)

I would personal love the Democrat proposal if I were a senior. I do believe it’s important because the seniors were helping out help us out when we were young and growing up. Professors, teachers, parents, grandparents, have all helped out in our community at one point in their life. I could have been babysitting someone, teaching or be instructor, or even being a role model for a young person/child. Therefore it’s our responsibility to help and support the seniors. I only worry for the other individuals that disagree with the proposal. Not every person recognizes and appreciates seniors. Many others would rather just keep their money for themselves. When I become of age and retire I would appreciate other people supporting life. The Democratic Party offers a chance to enjoy the last couple years of your life. I would gladly pay more taxes to help retirement funds for people that helped shape America in the past, wouldn’t you want the same?
